As VMEA President, I am excited to be working with our teachers, our board, and students to help music education in Vermont. As the band director at North Country Union High School for eight years I'm still learning a lot and always looking for new resources. I taught elementary & middle school band for a dozen years and was always looking then too. There is so much to be learned from resources like the VMEA, the National Association for Music Education, our VT Agency of Education, Little Kids Rock, and especially our fellow teachers. They've all been helpful as I've added classes like Jazz Band, Rock Band, Music Appreciation, Theory & Composition, and History of Rock at NCUHS. I've especially been working with those organizations since becoming the VMEA president and would love to share resources and experiences. I want students to get the best music education they can get. Helping teachers with their music teaching is a great way to do this. Please reach out to me (william.prue@ncsuvt.org) with any questions, concerns, problems and successes you have. Our board members are always here for you too - they're a great bunch!
